Match Reports

Sunday 14/09/2008 Away vs Comets Cougars.

So here we go again, another day, another season!!
What will lie ahead?
Will the mighty Evergreen win the league?
Who will be top goal scorer?
Who will be player of the season?
How many times will our coaches blow their whistles?
And will the "Mighty Spur" stay awake long enough to update the website with this match report?........ (Step away from the Pinot Grigio!!!)

A lovely sunny day in Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead.
"Roy Of The Rovers" (Sorry typing error) "Roy Of The Timekeeping!" was the first to arrive, ready for the 11 o'clock kick off?!, (Or so he thought. Have you not yet realised "The Mighty C" is telling you a different time for a reason? At least you were there for kick off this time!!).
After a short delay, something to do with "Nets and Pegs!" the game started at a nice fast pace, both teams fighting for the ball, this was going to be a tight game!!
The passing by Evergreen had improved considerably since last season. (Imagine if you had listened to your coaches last season, how well you could have played!!  REMEMBER "Over take", "Sit on the ball", "And Something about Laps??!" Tee Hee Hee)
Anyway back to the game, Harry and Lewis P 1st game of the season? Short corners?  Wow!! These were working really well, and nice to see Robert back in the centre of defence again, alongside Harry. (I always found being round Harrys dad used to make me feel quite nauseous, but you eventually get used to it!),
Lewis C was pushed up in to midfield, showing signs of a small "Jenas", or dare I say it, "Deco"!!! (No you may not Mrs Ch) (Wonder if Mr C is awake and realised what Ive just done! Tee Hee Hee!).
(Robbie), Robaldos 1-2's with “Lord Henry" (Lewis P), were causing problems for the C.C. defence.
A corner early into the first half whipped in by "Joe Cole" (or perhaps we should say David Bentley) (Harry, he to wouldn't stay in position when told!, although I’m sure he wasn’t promised FIFA 09 by his mum!!) found the feet of Robaldo, who smashed it home!!. 1--0 to the "Mighty Super Hoops"
The C.C. pushed for the equalizer and this unleashed young "Adam Lennon" to break up their midfield, with his tough tackling and hard running.
Louis "The Cat" was called upon to make "Petr Cech" saves (World Class) to keep the score 1--0.
Towards the end of the first half a tactical substitution was made, bringing on "The Mighty Dicksie Hall," who is playing up to his new name sake in midfield.
"Lord Henry" and "Robaldo", working really well together up front, carved up the C.C defence, and a goal from "Lord Henry" made it 2--0 just before half time.

Ahhhh half time....., Oranges for the boys! (Well done Mrs Ward, helps towards their 5 a day!!).........(Mr K says that's why he drinks Magners, part of his five a day. I say its because he can't handle his Beer!! "Pint of Beer for the fellas, Glass of wine or FRUIT BASED DRINK for the Ladies!!)

The second half was as tough as the first.
With the C.C scoring a 20 yard effort to make it 2--1, the fight was on!.........
Evergreen were still making chances, but their goalkeeper was on form and nothing was going to get passed him, or so he thought!!.
More great movement upfront caused Lewis P to be brought down PENALTY!!!
Up stepped "Lord Henry", who shot just wide. (Never mind!)
Then the final whistle......... HOORAH!! 1 game played, 1 win, fantastic, 3 points to the "Mighty Hoops!!"
Then it was all back to the Club for a celebratory "Coca Cola and Fruit Pastills" (Dont tell your mum Lewis P!)
Happy Birthday "Lord Henry"

Sunday 28/09/2008 Away vs Hemel Aces.

A warm sunny Sunday morning in Hemel Hempstead.  The mighty Hoops were preparing to take on the Aces.
With no manager present, (Hope you enjoyed your extra hour in bed Mr C!!), our Sweet F.A's were happy to step up to the challenge of being in charge.
After Mr Krangel had stopped his nose bleed, (Due to leaving Bushey!) and Mr Ward had completed his Highland Fling, or was he jumping on his Tom Tom?!! We were ready for the challenge and K.O. commenced.

The team read, Louis (The Cat) in goal, Robert, Harry and Jamie in defence. Adam, Lewis P in midfield and Robbie up front.
This was going to be a real test for the Hoops, as The Aces were unbeaten and hadn't conceded a goal!

The match was going really well, The Hoops were making plenty of chances and "The Cat" was making some good saves.
The defence of Harry Robert and Jamie were holding strong.  Some really good football was being played, lots of passing and running off the ball. Surely it wouldn't be long before we scored!!
Guess what, that's just what happened. (It's like I knew we scored first!)
"Adam Lennon" made a strong challenge to win the ball and Robaldo passed quickly to "Lord Henry". There was only one outcome 1--0 to the Hoops.

We held on for half time.

A tactical change at half time found young Jamie substituted for Lewis C. (Did this have anything to do with the fact that "The Mighty Spur", had managed to drag himself out of bed and bring his youngest sibling to the game?  (Mr C make mental note night before a big game NO PINOT GRIGIO ONLY A MUG OF HORLICKS AND EARLY TO BED!!!!) (I could put a comment there but I would just get into trouble - C)

The second half commenced. The Aces were piling on the pressure, but we were still holding on. We were still making good chances to score more goals.
Our luck changed mid way through the second half a brilliant shot on goal from the Aces made the score 1-1.
Now did that shot on goal have a sleeping powder in it, or had our "Sweet F.A's" given "The Mighty Hoops" a warm drink and a bedtime story at Half Time?, because our heads dropped and The Aces seized the opportunity and  scored 2 quick goals!! 3-1 to The Aces.

We played some really excellent football, defended really well, created some good chances, but the lesson to be learnt from this game is PLAY TO THE END AND DONT LET YOUR HEADS DROP IF THE OPPOSITION SCORES A GOAL! (A great goal that nobody, not even "The Cat" could stop!)

Sunday 05/10/2008 Home vs Sun Postal.

An early Sunday morning, the weather pouring with rain. The sweet F.A's trying to make up for their first defeat of the season.
The printed team sheet read, Louis in goal, Robert and Lewis C in defence, Harry, Robbie and Adam in midfield, with Lewis P up front.

Straight from kick off the Mighty Hoops were passing the ball brilliantly, with loads of movement in midfield. It was looking like it would not be long before we scored!

"Lord Henry was the first to score.  Then some fine work from "Lord Henry" put our "Joe Cole," (Ive told him he is more of a Tommy Smith, But Harry won’t have any of it!!), through to score. 2-0 To the mighty Hoops!!
The chances kept coming (Could we make it 10-0 before half time?).  Robert (our own Peter Crouch!) applied a 30 yard shot to make it 3-0 Fan Bl**dy tastic!!

Last weeks game was now and truly forgotten.
Chance after chance came, Lewis C and Robert had taken up reading war and peace. Could they finish their book in time? Did I see "The Cat" with a copy of The News of the World? (must take after his father reading that trash!!).

Lewis P couldn't see the score being left at only 3-0 at half time, so put his name on the score sheet yet again! 4-0.  Robaldo then thought he was to have a piece of the action 5-0 Brilliant!!

Half time couldn't come soon enough for the opposition.
No bed time story, or hot milky drink this week boys. (Well not for you anyway, the spectators were enjoying bacon rolls and coffee obviously!).  Just "Stay focused, focused, focused!!”.
A tactical substitution saw Jai coming on for Robaldo.

Kick off for the second half commenced. The Sun postal had obviously also been told to focus  as they started to pile on the pressure.
Another change made, Was this tactical or complacency by our "Sweet F.a's" as they moved our central defender Robert into goal and brought "The Cat" into defence?  Sun Postal saw their opportunity and scored.  The "Sweet F.A's" quickly moved Harry back into defence and moved Louis into midfield. Panic over!

The Hoops created more chances with Louis making some good passes and Jai working really hard in midfield.
"Lord Henry" decided he was going to be top goal scorer of the season again. Putting another 2 goals in the Sun Postal net.

Final Score 7-1 to Evergreen.

This game should be a confidence booster for us, because we can score goals when we want to. Especially now we have our new formation.

Well done Boys F.I.F.A. 09's  all round!!!!!!!!!

Referee 75 out of 100 could do better!!! Tee Hee Hee
